Park View Academy of Sport Student Jenny Blench Signs For Sunderland A.F.C. Women


We are delighted to confirm that Jenny Blench has signed for Sunderland A.F.C. Women! Jenny will be part of the PGA Academy alongside regular training and playing opportunities with the first team!


Jenny landed the contract after making huge strides here at Park View Academy of Sport which has seen her develop into an accomplished goalkeeper!


Jenny received daily coaching from our goalkeeping coach Ross Morecroft which mirrors what she will receive at Sunderland.

Jenny was part of the double-winning Women's Football Academy team who were crowned ECFA North East & Women's Premier Cup champions!


Jenny produced some great performances throughout the season! Most notably saving a penalty in the Semi Final against Thomas Telford!




Head of Goalkeeping Ross Morecroft had this to say about Jenny, " I am delighted to see Jenny become part of the Sunderland PGA programme. 


Jenny was a vital member of our successful women’s programme last season. Making important match-winning saves throughout the campaign.  The penalty save in the semi-final against Thomas Telford to the incredible save she made early on in the ECFA Final win. Her performance that day meant she was voted player of the game. 


She has been a pleasure to coach from the first day I met her, rarely missing a goalkeeping session in her 2 years at PV as she was determined to improve. I am extremely proud to see her start a new journey with Sunderland PGA."

Head of Women's Football Craig Bewick said, "I am delighted that Jenny is signing for Sunderland, she has been a huge part of our academy over the last couple of years, her application to improve throughout the year has been a pleasure to see, and she has been a credit to the academy and we look forward to following her progress!"


As an academy, we are immensely proud of Jenny's achievements and wish her all the best in achieving her dream of becoming a professional footballer.
